  • The SAT word of the day is cacophony. Cacophony is a noun meaning harsh, dissonant sounds. Eric thought the cacophony in the daycare was delightful; he loved the chaotic sounds of squealing, shouting, and laughter all jumbled together.

  • The answer to Friday’s question - the African American elite pilots were the Tuskegee Airmen. And now today’s question - He was the son of former slaves and received a doctorate from Harvard. In 1916, he started The Journal of Negro History and Negro History Week in February of 1926. February was chosen to honor the births of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Who is known as the father of Black History?

  • Ladies, do you need a dress for the prom? If so, stop by Atholton High School on Saturday, March 4th between 9 AM and 2:00 PM for the 4th Annual Pretty & Polished Affair. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Becca’s Closet is hosting the event that will provide free prom attire, personal shoppers, fashion tips, raffles and much more!

  • Any students interested in running outdoor track should attend a brief meeting tomorrow after school in room 507.

  • Attention seniors: Are you interested in speaking at Commencement? Do you have words of wisdom you would like to share with your fellow students, parents, siblings, and teachers? Applications are available in your English 12 classes. We will be holding auditions for speakers on Wednesday, March 1, from 2:30-3:30. If you are interested, please sign up with Ms. Grubb or Ms. Swartz by Monday, February 27th.

  • AP Registration is open and runs until March 9th. The cost is $93 per exam ($10/exam if qualified for fee reduction). Registration forms can be found on Naviance.   • All current and new tennis players: please submit your completed papers Wednesday, February 22nd after school in the main gymnasium to Coach Knuckles.

  • Attention any students in need of tutoring, the Alpha Achievers are hosting a tutoring program in the Media Center on Mondays after school from 2:10 PM to 3:00 PM.

  • The Merit Cart Store will be open today. Don't forget to bring your merits to lunch. 

  • Today for lunch we are having chicken meatball sub, hot turkey ham & cheese, or popcorn chicken.
