Morning Announcements - Tuesday, October 13, 2015

Tue, 10/13/2015 - 10:07am
  • The SAT word of the day is divisive. Divisive is an adjective meaning creating, or tending to create, separation, or difference. Tensions between the brains and the jocks at Riverside High were heightened when some teachers made divisive remarks suggesting that the jocks were not being penalized for their poor academic records.

  • Attention students: The deadline to change to a new class and still earn a credit is Thursday, October 15th.

  • Attention Afternoon ARL Students: ARL classes will still be running during Spirit Week, which includes the Pep Rally on October 15. It is expected for you to attend your ARL classes all next week. Attendance will be taken. If you are participating in the Pep Rally, this will be an excused absence from the ARL.

  • As part of the Homecoming festivities, the Oakland Mills Cheerleaders will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, October 17th from 8am - 10am before the soccer games. Tickets are $7 and may be purchased from any of the cheerleaders or see Coach Page. Hope you can join us for this all-you-can-eat event!

  • Special edition homecoming t-shirts are here!  Get one shirt while supplies last. You can purchase a shirt at one of the following events: the varsity volleyball game on Monday; the varsity boys’ soccer game on Tuesday; the senior choice dinner/hallway decorating on Wednesday; the Powderpuff game on Thursday and the homecoming football game on Friday. You can also purchase a shirt on the OMHS Booster website, http://www.omhsbooster.org/.

  • Our varsity football game on October 16 has the chance to be featured as next week’s Ravens RISE High School Football Showdown! Go to the link on the OM website to cast your vote. Winning will mean that our game could receive visits from Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders and mascot, Poe, and will be highlighted in the Baltimore Sun with a game recap and photos. Plus, we will receive a $500 donation for our athletic department! Be sure to cast your vote before tonight at 7:00pm.

  • There will be a wrestling team meeting on Monday, October 19th at 2:20 in Coach Howell’s room, room 505.  All those that are interested in wrestling need to attend this meeting. See Coach Howell if you have any questions.

  • If you are in need of service hours, please come to a meeting in Mrs. Savage's room right after school on Wednesday in room 701.

  • The boys’ cross country team placed 4th at the Scorpion Crawl Invitational. Joey Navarro was 6th, earning a medal and Frederick Eiland was 16th. The girls’ team placed 7th. Brit Lang finished first and Grace Chaverini was 6th, both earning medals.
