The PSAT is a great primer for the SAT and even the ACT, but it's more than just a trial run. PSAT scores are used to identify National Merit Scholars and award merit scholarships. More than 3.4 million high school students (mostly juniors and sophomores - but in Howard County, it’s been opened up for 9th graders) take this nationwide, multiple-choice test every year. Our OMHS PSAT day is Wednesday, October 16th. Our 9th graders will be taking the PSAT 8/9, and our 10th and 11th graders will be taking the PSAT National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT for short).
If your student(s) would like to practice before the test, they can go to www.psat.org/practice or www.satpractice.org.
On the 16th, our testing will start promptly at 7.30am. Please be sure that your student comes to school ON TIME, well-rested, well-fed, with two #2 pencils and an approved calculator (check here for calculator requirements). It is our hope that all of our students are ready to do their best on the test.
