NAME: Aronson/Willis Memorial Award 2018-19

Deadline: March 29, 2019

Award: $2,000

Specific Focus: This annual award in the amount of $2000.00 is to be awarded to the graduating senior who has maintained the highest grade point average while participating in at least two varsity sports programs.

NAME: Esperanza Education Fund Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2019

Award: $5,000-$20,000

Specific Focus: Qualifications:

  • Applicant must be born outside the U.S. or have two parents born outside the U.S.
  • Applicant must be planning to enroll full-time at an accredited public college or university in the academic year the award is offered.
  • Applicant must be either a graduating senior at a high school in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia or a recent GED grad residing in DC, Maryland or Virginia.
  • Applicant must have a family income of less than $100,000 in 2018.

NAME: American Fire Sprinkler Association - HS Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2019

Award: $2,000

Specific Focus: Applicant Eligibility Requirements - The High School Senior College Scholarship Contest is open to high school seniors who are citizens or aliens legally residing in the USA. Scholarship funds are payable to the winner’s college/university or certified trade school in the United States; winner must enroll for classes beginning no later than Fall 2019 session. Winner selection is NOT based on financial need, GPA or demographic criteria.

NAME: Continental Societies, Inc. National Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2019

Award: varies

Specific Focus: Continental Societies, Inc is a public service organization that is dedicated to serving disadvantaged and underprivileged youth.  Applicant must be a graduating high school senior attending college for the first time. Applicant must have applied to and been accepted by a four-year college or university. Applicant must submit an essay, a letter of graduation substantiation, a copy of a college acceptance letter, an official high school transcript, three letters of reference and a list of memberships and affiliations, plus honors and awards.

NAME: Links Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2019

Award: $2,500

Specific Focus: Two different scholarships will be awarded. 1. A student planning to attend a Historically Black College or University ($2,500 - can be renewed for three consecutive years), 2. A student planning to attend a four-year college or university other than a Historically Black College or University ($2,500 - can be renewed for three subsequent years).

NAME: OMHS PTSA Scholarship

Deadline: April 5, 2019

Award: $500

Specific Focus: The OMHS PTSA will award scholarships to students who have shown a commitment to the OM community. Submission guidelines include an essay that describes service to OMHS and/or the greater OM community. Hard copies of the application should be submitted to Ms. Hart in the Counseling Center.

NAME: Federal Water Quality Association Scholarship

Deadline: April 8, 2019

Award: $2,000

Specific Focus: Who is eligible to apply? Graduating seniors from high schools in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area and surrounding counties, planning to pursue environmental careers. (You must be accepted prior to receiving the award, into a 4-year bachelor’s program in an acceptable field of study by an institution of higher learning). Acceptable areas of study: environmental sciences, environmental engineering, civil engineering, biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or natural resource planning – other areas of the environment will also be considered.

NAME: Howard County Striders' David Tripp Scholar/Athlete Award

Deadline: April 10, 2019

Award: varies

Specific Focus: These awards are merit (not need) based, and will be granted to Howard County residents who are graduating seniors from any high school in Howard County. The intention is to recognize male and female winners as well as runners up, provided that there are deserving candidates. The criteria for consideration include outstanding achievement in the classroom and as a runner in cross country, track and/or in road races.

NAME: SECU MD Foundation Scholarships

Specific Focus: The SECU MD Foundation's mission is to contribute to and support the continuous learning and educational needs of members in the communities served by SECU, Maryland's largest credit union.We currently offer scholarship programs for State Employees and their Families, the University System of Maryland, and the Graves School of Business at Morgan State University.
