NAME: Military Commanders' Scholarship Fund
Deadline: February 16, 2019
Award:  $5,000
Specific Focus: Scholarship was established to assist children of select active duty, reserve, National Guard or retired members of the United States military who plan to continue their education in college. Only the first 100 applications received will be acknowledged and processed. The website will close when 100 applications are received. Incomplete or ineligible applications will not be accepted.

NAME: ACS Scholars Program
Deadline: March 1, 2019
Award: $5,000
Specific Focus: The ACS Scholars Program awards renewable scholarships to underrepresented minority students majoring in undergraduate chemistry-related disciplines, and are also intending to pursue careers in chemistry-related fields. To be considered for a scholarship through the ACS Scholars Program, candidates must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Be African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian
  • Be a graduating high school senior or college freshman, sophomore or junior. Seniors can apply for their fifth year.
  • Intend to major or already major in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology, or another chemistry-related science AND plan to pursue a career in a chemistry-related science as well.
  • Be a full-time student at a high school or accredited college, university, or community college
  • Demonstrate high academic achievement in chemistry or science (Grade Point Average 3.0 or higher)
  • Demonstrate financial need according to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA) and the Student Aid Report (SAR)

NAME: Doug Parker Scholarship

Specific Focus: The Doug Parker Memorial Scholarship was established in 2009 to support the financial needs of young adults in Howard County, Maryland who have been affected by cancer, and are seeking higher education. Applicants must have been between the ages of 15 and 39 during their own diagnosis/treatment or during the diagnosis/treatment of their parent or sibling. NAME: Bowen Leadership Group Scholarship

Specific Focus: The Bowen Leadership Group will award two scholarships (one for each of the best qualified female and male candidates) at Oakland Mills High School.  One additional "at large" scholarship will be awarded for the best qualified candidate from all applications from all other ten Howard County high schools.  Candidate applications are assessed for outstanding academic performance in high school and leadership in school and community activities.

NAME: Neal Sullivan Memorial Scholarship in Technology

Award: $1,000
Specific Focus: IntelliGenesis is offering a $1,000 scholarship to three full-time 2019 high school graduates who plan to major in Computer Science or another technology-related field. To be considered, the Neal Sullivan Memorial Scholarship in Technology application must be postmarked by March 31, 2019. NAME: Cynthia E. Morgan Memorial Scholarship Fund
Deadline: February 25, 2019
Award: $1,000
Specific Focus: In order to qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Must be a current resident of the state of Maryland;
  • Must be a junior or senior at a Maryland high school, or currently attending (or plan to attend) an accredited Maryland post-secondary school (college, university, trade school, or medical school);
  • Must be the first person in his/her immediate family who will be attending a Maryland accredited post-secondary school (as defined above). “Immediate family” is defined as consisting of direct family lineage, such as brothers/sisters, mothers/fathers, and grandparents on either mother’s or father’s side.
  • Must be planning to enter a medical or medical-related field. Medical or medical-related filed shall mean the professional work of a duly licensed medical practitioner; this includes, but is not limited to, nurses, laboratory scientists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, dietitians and bioengineers . This does not include administrative services such as secretarial or sales careers.
  • Must be attending, or planning to attend, a Maryland post-secondary institution or medical training school (i.e. Medix School or qualified nursing program).

NAME: Dr. Kenneth E. Mann Scholarship Award
Deadline: February 15, 2019
Award: $1,000
Specific Focus: Applicants must:
1)  Graduate from a Maryland public high school in 2019 and plan to pursue their elementary teaching degree at a college, university, or trade school in the state of Maryland.
2)  Articulate and provide a written statement (one page or less) as to your beliefs and commitment toward educating all students.
3)  Provide transcripts that also include ACT or SAT test scores and your junior year G.P.A.
4)  Provide two recommendations that would verify your dedication and commitment as a student pursuing a degree in elementary teacher education...one by a faculty member within your school and one by a person outside of your school setting.
