Mock SAT:

Parents or Guardians of College-Bound Students:

In preparation for students taking the June 2nd, administration of the SAT a Mock SAT test will be administered on Saturday, May 12th, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. at Wilde Lake High School. Students who plan on taking one of the June 2nd or August 25th administration of the SAT should take advantage of this opportunity. The fee for the mock test will be $10 (cash). There will be no refunds for those students who miss the test. The test is open to the first 30 students who register.

Name: Sustainability Leadership Academy 
Location: Chatham University 
Dates: July 8-14, 2018

Program Type: Leadership, Academic, Career Exploration

Interests/Qualifications: Open to rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders as well as students leaving 12th grade, Chatham's Sustainability Leadership Academy provides the chance to:

  • Make like-minded friends from across the country
  • Explore Pittsburgh during excursions to the city's sustainable highlights
  • Develop the leadership skills needed to be a change agent
  • Experience a taste of college life and earn college credit (optional for an additional fee)
  • Participate in hands-on experiential learning with faculty in the field
  • Ask questions and gain mentorship from local leaders in the field

Scholarships:

NAME: Infinity Hope Scholarship
Deadline: May 18, 2018

Award: $1,000

Specific Focus: Project:

Pick one of the following communities and write an essay, no more than 1,000 words, about why that community should consider registering as organ, eye, and tissue donors:

  • Multicultural (African American, Hispanic, Asian-Pacific, Native American, etc.)
  • A faith community (Christian, Judaic, Islam, etc.)
  • A community you identify with (age group, hobby/sports, neighborhood, etc.)
  • Describe three initiatives to further engage this community or group. For example, an information event for a soccer team, a brunch at a church, etc.

NAME: Big Sun Scholarship
Deadline: June 19, 2018

Award: $500

Specific Focus: The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. The student must be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and be currently be involved in some sport at that institution or in the community. Please send us a short essay answering the following 3 part question: How did your participation in sports during your high school years influence you? Has your participation influenced your career goals? Has your participation influenced how you relate to your family? Please remember to include your name and the name of the school that you are attending. All essay submissions should be sent to: athleticawards@bigsunathletics.com

NAME: Society of Women Engineers Scholarship 
Deadline: May 1, 2018

Award: $1,000 - $15,000

Specific Focus:  

A few main eligibility points:
    Only women are eligible.
    Undergraduate applicants must be planning to study an ABET-accredited program in engineering, technology, or computing in the upcoming academic year.  
    You must be planning to attend full time (exceptions are made for reentry and non-traditional applicants).
    You must not be fully funded for tuition, fees, and books and equivalent.
