PSAT 2024

Tue, 10/01/2024 - 11:00am

PSAT testing will take place October 16, 2024  for 10th and 11th Graders. The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is a standardized test administered by the College Board and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the United States. The PSAT provides information to educators, parents, and the public on student progress toward proficiency on the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.

The PSAT this year will be fully digital. Students will access the test with the BlueBook app on their HCPSS Chromebooks. The digital test has 2 sections, Reading & Writing, and Math with a break in between.

THIS TEST IS ONLY FOR 10-11 GRADE STUDENTS! Seniors, please take this day as an opportunity to explore post-graduation options. In the past, many students have used this day to visit college campuses, explore/apply for career opportunities, and work on college applications. Ninth graders will be working on high school enrichment activities for periods 1-3. By 4th period, all students will resume their regular schedule.

Students: Please make sure to bring your FULLY CHARGED Chromebook to school on PSAT day! If you do not have a school issued device, you’ve lost your device, or you are having issues with it, please go to the Media Center to have one issued or for troubleshooting ASAP.

Parents: Please make sure students attend school that day and are ON TIME! We will begin testing at 7:50am so it is important that students are present and seated. There are no make-ups. Once directions are completed, students will no longer be allowed in the testing room.

There is also an online PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide. This link provides information, practice tests, and other resources that can be helpful to students and families.
