From the HCPSS: (Updated 8/13/2020)
The Howard County Public School System announces its free summer food service program to meet the growing need to feed hungry children and families in Howard County and fill the nutritional gap over the summer months. Please note, some summer locations are different from the spring meals program, which ran through June 30.
The meal sites will serve Grab-and-Go summer meals from July 1 through August 28, Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Participants will be given two meals, breakfast and lunch, for that day. Friday distributions at school-based locations only will include meals to sustain children through the weekend.
Meals will be provided to anyone age 18 and under and/or any HCPSS student, regardless of age. Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. Children do not need to be present; parents/guardians may pick up meals for their child(ren). There is no application, enrollment or fees to participate in this program.
From August 3-28, the 13 meal sites to distribute Grab-and-Go meals are:
School-Based Locations:
Community Locations (weekend meals not provided):
In order to offer convenience for families, while complying with government requirements, the existing procedures for meal pickup will be extended through the summer for families who may find it difficult to pick up meals for their children at the locations or times when meals are served.
