Pesticide Application

The purpose of this memorandum is to serve notice that the Grounds Service Department has scheduled a pesticide application for exterior grounds between June 16 and August 13, 2021. The pesticide applications will be made to the landscape beds, fence lines, building foundations, parking lots, sidewalks, and the baseball/softball fields if applicable. All precautions will be taken to insure the safety of students and staff however, state laws require that the following statement be included in this letter. The office of Pesticide Programs of the United States Environmental Protection Agency has stated that: “Where possible, persons who potentially are more sensitive, such as pregnant women and infants (less than two-years old), should avoid any unnecessary pesticide exposure.” A summary of the potential adverse effect of the pesticides is below. PRODUCT NAME: Ranger Pro
COMMON NAME: Glyphosate
EPA REGISTRATION NUMBER: 93236-5

HEALTH HAZARD DATA: Potential Adverse Effects: Likely Routes of Exposure: Skin contact and inhalation. EYE Contact: Roundup Pro may cause pain, redness and tearing based on toxicity studies. Skin Contact: Roundup Pro is not more than slightly toxic and nor more than slightly irritating based on toxicity studies. INGESTIONS: Roundup Pro is not more than slightly toxic based on toxicity studies. No significant adverse health effects are expected to develop if only small amounts (less than a mouthful) are swallowed. Ingestion of similar formulation has been reported to produce gastrointestinal discomfort with irritation of the mouth, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Oral ingestion of large quantities or one similar product has been reported to result in hypertension and lung edema.

HEALTH HAZARD DATA: Acute Eye Contact: Based on an evaluation of the ingredients and/or similar products, this product may cause brief and/or minor eye irritation. The expected adverse health effects resulting from an exposure may include redness and possible swelling. Acute Skin Contact: Based on an evaluation of the ingredients and/or similar products, this product may cause brief and/or minor skin irritation. The expected adverse health effects resulting from an exposure may include redness and possibly some minor swelling. Acute Ingestion: Based on an evalusation of the ingredients and/or similar products, this product may be minimally toxic when ingested. Acute Inhalation: Based on an evaluation of the ingredients and/or similar products, this product is expected to be slightly toxic when inhaled. Exposure to high concentrations of dust may result in respiratory irritation. Signs and symptoms may include, but not limited to, nasal discharge, sore throat, coughing and difficulty breathing. Potentially Aggravated Medical Conditions: Individuals with anemia or preexisting diseases of the blood may have increased susceptibility to the toxicity of excessive exposures.
