  • Is your family file updated?  If not, you cannot participate in field trips, prom, etc.  Printed directions are available in the front office.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

  • Studies have shown that attending a music concert and listening to live music yields a much greater enjoyment to the listener. It also has a much greater ability to reduce stress than simply listening to a recording. So take out your earbuds, turn off the rattling stereo in your Honda Civic, and attend the Axes and Ivories Guitar and Piano recitals TONIGHT, March 11th and March 25th at 7:00pm. If you choose to attend, your soul will thank you!!!
  • Not sure what you want to be when you graduate from high school or college? Most students aren’t. That’s why we’re introducing Career Cafes!  Every other Thursday this spring, representatives from different careers will be in the media center during lunchtime to meet with you and talk about what they do. If you’d like to attend, stop by the media center to sign up.
  • Resilience as Immigrants (March 12): “We are a country where people of all backgrounds, all nations of origin, all languages, all religions, all races can make a home, America was built by immigrants." Hillary Clinton. If you want to find out more about the resilience of immigrants, come to Ms. Shiah’s room #200 TOMORROW, March 12 to hear a presentation Done by Xiomara Calderón from Conexiones & JHU-APL about the resilience of immigrants. That is room #200 on March 12, at 2:15pm. All are welcome, sponsored by Escorpiones Latinos. 
  • Resiliencia como inmigrantes (12 de marzo): "Somos un país donde las personas de diversos orígenes, de todas las naciones, todos los idiomas, todas las religiones, todas las razas pueden hacer un hogar, Estados Unidos fue construido por inmigrantes". Hillary Clinton. Si desea obtener más información sobre la resiliencia de los inmigrantes, visite el cuarto de la Sra. Shiah número 200 el 12 de marzo para escuchar una presentación realizada por Xiomara Calderón de Conexiones y JHU-APL sobre la resiliencia de los inmigrantes.   • Would you like to know more about your strengths, yourself and your options?? We are offering the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) on Tuesday, March 31st at 7:30am. This is a free test that gives you a lot of knowledge about careers, jobs and interests. There is absolutely no obligation to join the military. If you are interested see your counselor for a permission slip if you would like to take the test. All permission slips are due by Friday, March 27th.
  • Please join the Class of 2021 as they host "A Night To Remember" - Junior/Senior Prom 2020, to be held at Martin's West on Saturday, May 2.  Tickets are $70 each and can be purchased anytime online. To purchase online, go to the school website and click "Online Payments" under the Essential Applications section about midway the homepage.  Tickets may also be purchased in Room 809 daily after school.  Please remember - All obligations must be paid and all forms must be turned in before tickets are issued.

SPORTS

  • All Allied Softball paperwork is due to Coach Laverick on Friday 3/13. Our first practice is Tuesday 3/17 after school in the gym. Any questions, please see Coach Laverick in his media center office.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • Calling all basketball lovers! The Glenwood Middle School March Madness for Grassroots needs volunteers! If you love the game of basketball, come out and volunteer to be a scorekeeper or referee! The date is Friday, March 20th, 3PM to Midnight. The registration deadline is Friday, March 13th. Please see Mrs. DeMasi in Student Services for additional details.

THIRD PARTY ACTIVITIES

  • Are you available to play basketball on Friday, March 27 at 2:30pm? We are seeking 2 teams to compete in the Hoops for Roots Tournament at Long Reach High School. The registration fee has been covered for the first 2 teams of 3-5 players. All Students are eligible to play!!  Applications are in the front office and due this TOMORROW, Thursday, March 12.  Games start at 2:30pm and go until they are complete. https://sites.google.com/hcpss.org/hoopsforrootsLRHS
