ACADEMICS

  • The last day to withdraw from a semester two course without a W on your transcript is TODAY, February 25th.
  • Are you looking for a quiet place to study and get work done? Maybe a tutor to help you with some troublesome problems? A snack to help you concentrate? Come visit Scorpion Success TODAY in the Cafeteria and Thursdays in room 808 and 704 for math help from 2:20 -4:00. Drop ins are always welcomed!
  • Mid-term exams must be made-up by TOMORROW, February 26.  All exams not taken will be converted to E's on your report card.

COLLEGE

  • Oakland Mills High School is proud to announce the Oakland Mills Vincent James Award: The recipient of this award will earn a $1,500 scholarship and the award is decided based on the merit demonstrated in the nomination packet. Students applying must be graduating seniors attending a 2 or 4 year college or university. Please see Mrs. DeMasi in Student Services to obtain a nomination packet.  Your nomination packet is due to Ms. Hart in Student Services no later than Wednesday, April 1st. You may turn your packet in as soon as it is complete.
  • The Columbia Association Spirit of Columbia Scholarship Award offers up to six $2,500 education awards to graduating high school seniors who exhibit exceptional efforts in providing community service to benefit Columbia residents and those in the Columbia area. Please see Mrs. DeMasi in Student Services for more information.
  • If you are interested in attending HCC in fall 2020, please join us for an application session in the media center lab from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 4th. This application session is for students who are interested in becoming an HCC student. This includes students who are interested in the Freshman Focus program, Silas Craft, and HCC’s Honors programs.  Please see Mrs. DeMasi in Student Services for assistance in signing up.
  • Friendly reminder for students completing the scholarship application for the Mason's, to complete and return your application to Student Services.  A representative from the Mason's organization will be picking them up during the first week of March.  If you haven't requested an application package from the Mason's, be sure to check Naviance or with Mrs. DeMasi in Student Services.

FUNDRAISERS

  • The sophomore class is hosting a Spirit Night at the Chipotle on Dobbin Road tomorrow, Wednesday, February 26 from 4-8pm. Be sure to show a copy of the flyer, either in hand or on your phone, for your purchase to count for our fundraiser. You can see the flyers on social media, on the class bulletin board outside the cafeteria, or in Ms. Powell’s or Ms. Magrin’s rooms, 410 or 307. Hope to see you there!

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

  • Attention Seniors: If you missed the first interest meeting for King of the Mill, it's not too late to participate. The final interest meeting will take place TOMORROW, Wednesday, February 26 during Scorp Time in Ms. Bouvier's room. You don't want to miss out on this memorable Senior experience! Please see Ms. Bouvier if you have any questions or if you can't attend the meeting.
  • Attention Delta Scholars and Alpha Achievers: Are you planning on attending the Busch Gardens trip in April?  Make sure you are doing your part with the fundraiser to help lower the cost.  More sales = lower bus and admission ticket prices.  Not attending the trip?  Consider helping out your group members by participating with the fundraiser sales.  Please see Ms. Humphrey, Ms. Tyler or Mr. Ringgold with questions.

SCHOOL SUPPORT

  • Do you want to learn how to help a friend who might be struggling?  Would you like to know about resources that are available to help you and your friends? Attend the “Don’t Do Nothing” program TOMORROW, Wednesday, February 26.  A representative from Grassroots will share all this at this meeting after school on the 26th in room 410, Ms. Powell’s room.  Snacks will be provided.
  • Are you ready to take the next step and get your learners permit? The MVA Written Learners Permit test will be administered here at Oakland Mills on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 during 5th and 6th periods.  There are only 40 slots available for the test!! Participating students must be at least 15 years and 9 months old or older and must bring with them a valid student ID or an unexpired MD State ID.  Signed permission slips are due no later than Thursday, March 5, 2020.  Permission slips and your MVA Learners Permit Study Guide may be picked up in room 609.  Please see Ms. Filippelli for any questions.

SPORTS

  • Attention Outdoor Athletes: There will be a mandatory Outdoor Track meeting on Thursday, February 27 in room 507. Please bring all completed paperwork.
