  • As we continue to look through our kaleidoscope at Inclusive Schools, today we will learn some facts about the education of students with disabilities.  Did you know that only 50 years ago people with disabilities were not allowed to attend public schools? Millions of people with disabilities lived in institutions and were kept away from society.  In 1975, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act was passed. This law required public school systems to education people with disabilities in their Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). LRE means students with disabilities should spend as much time as possible with typically-developing peers who do not receive special education services.
