  • Allied Soccer defeated Wilde Lake on Monday, 5-2. Goals scored by Davon Holland, Thomas Eiland, and Dexter Gutierrez. Way to go Scorps! 

  • Congratulations to Senior Golfer, Adam Fairbanks, who shot a 78 in the District 5 Championships at Crofton Country Club yesterday.  His 78 automatically qualified him for the Maryland State Championship later this month.

  • The field hockey team lost to Lansdowne 2-1 in double overtime yesterday.  Congratulations to Gretchen B. on her goal & Hannah S. on her assist. Rebekka S. had a goal-line save and Justis S. had a season-high save percentage in goal!  Please come & support the field hockey team this Thursday at 4 as they take on Long Reach at home!

  • Due to the PSAT testing, this week the National ART Honor Society meeting will be postponed until Wednesday, October 24. Those running for office should be prepared to present their speech at that time. Again, The NAHS meeting scheduled for this week is canceled due to testing. We will meet in two weeks on Wednesday, October 24th.

  • PBIS will be raffling off homecoming tickets during all the lunch periods Friday, October 12th. Bring your merits to lunch and respectfully remind your teachers to give out merits for respectful, responsible and ready behavior. You have to be in it to win it!

  • Seniors - Please be sure to bring in a discretionary note if you plan to be out of school on PSAT day.  This will ensure that your absence is excused. You can give notes to either your English teacher or directly to Ms. Boyce. 

  • All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will be taking the PSAT on October 10th. Please bring your own calculator to your testing room. There will be a limited supply of calculators in the 11th-grade testing rooms which will be first come, first serve. Math teachers will not be loaning calculators this year so it is imperative that you come to your testing room prepared on October 10th. Good luck on the PSAT!

  • Homecoming Court nominations are now open! Check your Oakland Mills Student Resources course in Canvas for an ungraded survey named Homecoming Court. You have until Thursday, October 11 to nominate. Next week, look out for the final voting ballot.  Want to make music suggestions to the DJ for the Homecoming Dance? Check for an announcement on Canvas and follow the link!

  • Do you need a place after school to get your work done, to get organized and to get help in all your courses? 

  • The Scorpion Successafter-schooll program starts this Thursday in room 808. Applications are on the OMHS website, in guidance, in the front office and in Mrs. Urszuy's room 808. We meet in room 808 at 2:20. Come, have a snack and get your work done so you can relax at home and still improve your grades. 

  • If you have a debt to the cafeteria, it will be reported as an obligation. This WILL affect you being able to purchase your Homecoming Ticket. Please see Ms. Holderman with cash or check over $25.00 payment or questions. Go to www.myschoolbucks.com to pay online.

  • The Escorpiones Latinos Club is meeting this Thursday after school in room 200 (Shiah’s classroom). Everyone is invited!

  • If you get Free or Reduced meals, you must submit a new application each year. We will be telling you at the register if you need to complete a new application. They must be turned in by October 12. If not completed, you will have to pay full price for your meals starting October 15. Go to www.myschoolapps.com to complete online. If you need a paper application, please see Ms. Holderman.

  • Students interested in buying tickets to the homecoming dance - please remember that your family file must be updated online by your parent/guardian.  You will not be able to purchase a ticket without an updated family file. Printed directions are available in the front office.

  • Are you a Senior? Would you like to earn a $30 gift card to Chic-fil-a, Starbucks or Chipotle? How about a $60 gift card? Or help with your prom tickets? The class of 2019 is here to help. We are currently running a Claire's Gourmet fundraiser. Orders are due to Mrs. Bailer in room 208 by Wednesday, October 17th. Extra fundraisers can be found in room 208 as well.

  • Do you need a holiday gift for mom? Well, don’t worry, the Journalism class is hosting a Yankee Candle fundraiser from October 1st to October 12th. If you would like to purchase any satisfying scents or easy gifts for friends or family, see any of the students in Journalism or Ms. Moore in room 211. Buy a candle and help support the OM newspaper!
