From the HCPSS:

In times of emergencies or school closings, information is shared with the community on the school system homepage, HCPSS News and text message alerts, the HCPSS Information Hotline (410-313-6666), Twitter, Facebook, and via HCPSS cable TV (Comcast 95/Verizon 42). Parents/guardians must opt-in to receive HCPSS text message alerts.

Please note that parents do not have to sign up for this service, though parents do need to opt-in for text message alerts. All subscription information comes directly from the HCPSS Connect system.

Staff and community members who do not have children in the school system do have to sign up manually.
