A huge congratulations to our Girls Flag Football team on an outstanding season that came to a close yesterday in the State Quarterfinals. Following their historic East 1 Regional Championship victory over Howard, the Scorpions battled valiantly against Baltimore Polytechnic, ultimately falling just short in an 18–14 contest.
After facing an early 12-point deficit, the girls put together an incredible comeback fueled by relentless effort and determination. Jordyn Harriston and Roz Sarfo consistently pressured the opposing quarterback, while the defense delivered a second-half shutout to give the Scorpions a chance to complete the comeback. Two interceptions by Harper Harriston and Zaniyah Winkler helped shift the momentum, and Braxton Paul added a third-quarter touchdown run to bring Oakland Mills within striking distance.
The girls left everything on the field, demonstrating tremendous grit, toughness, and resilience against a very talented opponent. They battled until the final minute and represented Oakland Mills with tremendous pride. Congratulations to our players and coaches on an East 1 Regional Championship, a State Quarterfinal appearance, and an exceptional season! We couldn't be prouder of this group!
ANOTHER HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR BOYS' VARSITY SOCCER TEAM ON CAPTURING THE 3A SOUTH II REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!
The Scorpions defeated Reservoir High School 1–0 last night to secure the regional title! Francisco Teran found the back of the net for the game-winning goal, while Keegan Rembert anchored a tremendous defensive effort. Goalkeeper Nick Hamann also came up with several crucial saves down the stretch to preserve the shutout and secure the victory.
The Scorpions now advance to the 3A State Quarterfinals, where they will host Towson on Saturday night! Let's pack the stands and give our boys the home-field advantage they deserve!
