PSAT Day 2025

PSAT is on October 15th (10th-11th Grade)

PSAT testing will take place Wednesday, October 15, 2025, for ONLY 10th and 11th graders. The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is a standardized test administered by the College Board and co-sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the United States. The PSAT provides information to educators, parents, and the public on student progress towards proficiency on the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.

How does the PSAT benefit you?

  1. If you are considering college or university, this is a great launching point to help you find out your strengths and areas of growth.
  2. You will gain valuable test skills with low pressure. The PSAT is not a graduation requirement, BUT the scores are used for AP potential and placement; furthermore, some PSAT scores may qualify you for college scholarships.

The PSAT is fully digital. Students will access the test with the BlueBook app on their HCPSS Chromebooks. The digital test has two sections, Reading & Writing and Math, with a break in between.

THIS TEST IS ONLY FOR 10-11 GRADE STUDENTS! Seniors will use this day as an opportunity to explore post-graduation options. In the past, many students have used this day to visit college campuses, explore/apply for career opportunities, and work on college applications. 9th graders will be working on high school enrichment activities.

Students: Please make sure to bring a FULLY CHARGED Chromebook and charger to school on PSAT day!

Parents: Please make sure students attend school that day and are ON TIME! We will begin testing at 7:50 am, so it is important that students are present and seated. Once directions are completed, students will no longer be allowed in the testing room.

Please see the online PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide, which provides information, practice tests, and other resources that can be helpful to students and families. Any questions, please contact Ms. Jackson (christine_jackson@hcpss.org) or Mr. McMillan (jansen_mcmillan@hcpss.org).
