NAME: Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs Award

Specific Focus: Award is provided to: 1. Young women ages 16-19 on April 1st each year. 2.Encourages young women to continue their studies/careers and participation in public and political life. 3. Local winner vies for award money at the Zonta district and international levels. 4. Eligible applicants are currently enrolled in high schools/colleges/universities in Howard, Baltimore, and Carroll Counties, Baltimore City, and Delaware.

NAME:  Federal Water Quality Association Scholarship

Deadline: April 9, 2018

Award: $2000

Specific Focus: Those eligible: Graduating Seniors from high schools in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area and surrounding counties, planning to pursue environmental careers. (You must be accepted prior to receiving the award, into a 4 year bachelor's program in an acceptable field of study by an institution of higher learning. Acceptable areas of study: environmental sciences, environmental engineering, biology, chemistry, civil engineering, chemical engineering, or natural resource planning, other environmental areas will also be considered.) To apply, download and complete, and submit with (1) transcript, (2) SAT/ACT scores, (3) letter of reference from a science, environmental class/club teacher, (4) brief description or list of extra-curricular activities, (5) copy of letter of acceptance from a 4-year college, and (6) Essay (one page) on selected topic from application.

Opportunities:

Name: UA Early College Summer on Campus

Location: University of Alabama

Dates: Session I Term: May 29-June 28.  Session II Term: July 5-August 3.

Program Type: Academic

Interests/Qualifications: Open to students who have successfully passed UAEC 200: College Readiness Course and is in good academic standing. Seniors (2018 graduates) remain eligible for UAEC through the summer after graduation.  Participants will live in a residence hall on campus, take two classes with other college students, participate in social activities and meet other UAEC students from across the country.

Deadline: SOC Application Deadline for Summer I Term: May 11.  SOC Application for Summer II Term: June 18
