Howard County PFLAG Scholarship for Outstanding LGBTQ and Allied Students
Deadline: April 14, 2017
Award: Up to two (2) $2,000.00 Scholarships
Specific Focus: The purpose of this scholarship is to: Recognize outstanding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and allied students Encourage the pursuit of post-secondary education for self-identified LGBT and allies Foster a positive image of the LGBT society (Click on the application form for additional information and the application packet).

Miss Utility Scholarship
Deadline: April 21, 2017
Award: $1,008.11 single year
Specific Focus: The Miss Utility Scholarship Program is open only to legal residents of Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Maryland PTA Scholarship
Deadline: April 13, 2017
Award: Scholarship provides a minimum of $500
Specific Focus: This scholarship is offered to high school seniors who plan on pursuing a career in education in the schools of Maryland. Academic record, and student resume, Commitment to Career in Education Essay will also be considered with each application. All applicants must have a 2.75 un-weighted minimum grade point average, must obtain sponsorship of a Maryland PTA local unit in good standing. Must be a member of a Maryland PTA/PTSA local unit meeting the Standards of Affiliation.

Opportunities

Summer College 2017 and Ithaca Writers Institute
Location: Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY
Dates: Various sessions between June 25 and July 21, 2017
Program Type: Enrichment, arts, pre-college, career exploration
Interests/Qualifications: High school students interested in previewing college life. Courses available cover a wide range of subjects (see website). College credit awarded for successful completion of coursework.
Deadline: May 1, 2017 for summer college, May 15, 2017 for Ithaca Writers Institute. Early application recommended as spaces fill rapidly.

NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) High School Academy Career Edge Program 
Location: New York City
Dates: Various sessions between July 10 and August 4, 2017
Program Type: Career exploration, pre-college
Interests/Qualifications: Rising high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors. One-week, professionally oriented  programs of study designed for career exploration. Courses immerse students in an industry, and allows them comprehensive views of  potential career paths. Group projects, guest lecturers, and field trips offered. Each course culminates with the creation of a project that can be added to students' college portfolios.
Deadline: June 1, 2017 for residential students, July 1, 2017 for commuter students.

Summer Discovery Programs 
Location: Penn State University, State College PA
Dates: Various sessions offered between June 25 and July 29, 2017
Program Type: Pre-college
Interests/Qualifications: Rising high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Pre-college program combines academics, athletics, and activities to give high school students a well-rounded introduction to college life. Courses offered in a variety of disciplines, as well as SAT preparation and training for college success.

SeaWorld Orlando Career Camps
Location: Orlando FLA
Dates: Various sessions offered between June 5 and August 5, 2017
Program Type: Career exploration
Interests/Qualifications:  Rising  high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Students work with a diverse group of zoological professionals. SeaWorld veterinary team and animal trainers educate students about marine conservation and career development for their respective specialties.
