Morning Announcements - Thursday, March 2, 2017

Thu, 03/02/2017 - 8:08am
  • The SAT word of the day is curator. Curator is a noun meaning a custodian, especially one in charge of a museum or zoo. In her new position as curator of the exhibit, Naomi was responsible for selecting what pieces would be displayed and determining where they would go in the museum.

  • The answer to yesterday’s question, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic, was Amelia Earhart. Here’s today’s question: On October 24th, 1975, over 90% of the women in this country refused to work or perform household tasks in order to protest gender inequality. Over 10% of the total population rallied and marched in the capital that day. Just five years later, this country elected their first female president. What is the name of this small European country? Teachers, email your answer to Ms. Anderson or send a student to room 203 with the answer.

  • Hallway sweeps are coming! There are too many people in the hallways after each bell rings! We will make an announcement for teachers to close and lock their doors and all students in the hallway will be asked to report to the auditorium to meet with administration. PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOUR SELF IN THIS SITUATION. BE ON TIME FOR CLASSES!

  • All girls who played a winter sport need to hand in their lock to Mrs. Hewitt. If you are playing a spring sport, you must see Mrs. Hewitt to switch the paperwork.  All locks will be cleared after school on Friday.

  • AP Registration is open and runs until March 9th. The cost is $93 per exam ($10/exam if qualified for fee reduction). Registration forms can be found on Naviance. Return completed form and payment to the Counseling Center at your earliest convenience. For questions, contact AP Coordinator Janet Bowen at

  • There will be an important meeting for anyone interested in playing Allied Softball today at 2:15 PM in the cafeteria. Important paperwork will be given out. If you have any questions, see coach Laverick in Room 309.
