Morning Announcements - Friday, February 10, 2017

Fri, 02/10/2017 - 9:36am
  • The SAT word of the day is influx. Influx is a noun meaning a streaming together, or continual incoming; a place where two rivers join. After advertising their programs in a Tokyo newspaper, the language school received an influx of students from Japan.

  • The answer to yesterday's trivia question, the former slave who became an abolitionist was Frederick Douglas. And now today's question - They were an elite group of African-American pilots in the 1940s who overcame adversity. They battled enemies during World War II but also fought against racism and segregation. By the end of the war, they managed to destroy or damage over 409 German airplanes, 950 ground units, sank a battleship destroyer, and ran more than 200 bomber escort missions. Who were they?
